Taxation Without Representation Tyranny Disclaimer: Any pictures or graphics on this website are symbolic in nature. The Cape Coral Minutemen do not condone violence or illegal activities. The people in the colonies had no representation and the King of England decided to use the colonies as a bank account. England kept taking until the people had nothing left and they still took more. The English gave the people no voice in the government. All the English did was raise and invent taxes.
Is History Repeating Itself? The situation in Cape Coral is so similar to what happened in Colonal times that it’s hard to explain how three hundred years later, we can have the same situation our forefathers had in the 18th century. We have fought many wars against tyranny since our revolution and what do we end up with in Cape Coral ? We have nothing less than a dictatorship here. The Colonals had a dictatorship in the `18th century. The only difference between what we have and what the colonists had are the players. We have a mayor instead of a king and we have a city council instead of The House of Commons. Our mayor and council are no less indifferent to us than the King of England and the House of Commons were to the colonists. The only difference I can see is that our administration doesn’t wear red and carry muskets and swords. The administration’s arsenal consists of unaffordable assessments and taxes. Like the English, the administration has a contingent of foreign troops. The English had Hessian Soldiers. Today our mayor and council have special interest groups. The administration has builders, large land owners construction companies like MWH and speculators. Out of Sight - Out of Mind The King of England and the House of Commons were thousands of miles away so, to some degree, you can understand their actions. There is no excuse for what the mayor and city council are doing to us. If the administration wants to run the city like this, then maybe the name Stalingrad should be considered.
Another Tea Party? Yes.....And, You're Invited When are we going to have our Tea Party in Cape Coral? The time is right and we must stop the administration before they put any more people through the financial meat-grinder. Enough is enough! The first thing on our agenda must be to stop the utility expansion projects. The projects are being used to extort money from the residents and therefore the water and waste water utilities must be taken out of the hands of a city that cannot be trusted. We need to start a water and waste-water authority or it must be converted to a non-profit entity or a Co-op. We need to band together and assemble an army of foot soldiers so we can strip these tyrants of their power and “send them down the road kicking rocks”. We will not fight with musket and saber but we will fight with pen paper and ballots. Our weapons will be any legal device that can be used to extract this cancer from out town. We need to run these people out of town on a proverbial rail. We need to start campaigns to force our representatives in the State Capital sit up and take notice. We must keep their phones ringing off the hooks. Clog their e-mail until they grow weary of hearing minutemen. We need to run their fax machines until they break down. We need to hear them cry out; “What in the name of God in going on in Cape Coral”. We must put the pressure on and keep it on. We must persist until our voices are heard. We need to get petitions in the street and start recall processes. This will take work and it will take money to bring these monkeys into court. If we can’t get them on criminal charges, then we will have to work in the civil court system. We need to remove their power and return the power to where it belongs, with the people. Hard Work - And, For a Good Cause This will not be an easy task just as it was not an easy task for our forefathers. It will take time and effort and we must be ready to have rallies and fill the council chambers at a minutes notice just as our forefathers picked up their muskets and swords and went out the door to fight the red coats. We need to show the administration that we mean business. We must recruit active people and we need to maintain a show of force at city hall the likes of which they have never seen before. We must place people there week after week and put constant pressure on the mayor and the council. Large numbers of volunteers will be essential for the membership as a whole. Once we've achieved getting enough minutemen and minuteladies, we will be able to maintain a presence without relying on the very same people every week to attend council meetings. Simply stated, on a per-capita basis, the greater success we have enlisting new volunteers, the fewer signatures each of them will need to get from friends, neighbors and relatives while still achieving greater support for our cause.
Tea-Time is Over - It's Time to Act! We need to change our form of government. The people running this city are not elected officials and appear to have more than their fair share of incompetence. We need to form another type of government to insure that We the People are heard. So, we must all join together and get involved in order to shake this monkey off our backs. We need to make this a town we can call our home rather than a place where we are treated as a bank roll to be tapped by the city at its convenience. If you want to put a stop to this join us in our revolution. Please take a moment and join the cause using our on-line form. Your membership will be most helpful for our cause. All name, addresses and e-mail addresses will be kept confidential and will not be sold or used for any purpose other than the Cape Coral Minutemen. |
